Dog Brain Tribute Tea
2007-06-26

Legend has it that Yandi tasted various grasses to treat various illnesses. When someday passing by Zixing, he brought his own beloved dog and arrived on a mountain. He saw a tree with golden wild fruits. Yandi picked a fruit and put it into the mouth. After a while he lost consciousness, because the wild fruit is virulent. The dog nipped its master's gown sleeve, and pulled Yandi with difficultly step by step, from daytime to darkness without a rest. But the twisted mountain road would end. The dog at last reached a tree, but itself fell down aside from weariness. Early morning when the sun rose to shine on this tree, a dewdrop dripped along a leaf and fell into to Yandi’s mouth. After a while, Yandi finally opened his eyes, only to find his beloved dog dead. Heart broken, Yandi named this mountain Dog Brain Mountain.

The fact is that it was a dewdrop from tea trees of this mountain rescued Yandi’s life. Afterwards, the local farmers picked teas every year from this mountain and presented as a tribute for the emperor. Dog Brain Tribute Tea therefore acquired its fame. The emperor also used the dog tooth to carve a seal. From then on, each pack of teas all had this tooth seal.
